WEBRIS is Back in Business!

In January of 2018, WEBRIS was acquired by another agency.

In January of 2020, we untangled the purchase agreement. This gave me the rights back to take on clients under the WEBRIS brand.

During those 2 years I was a partner at the acquiring agency. I learned a lot from that experience.

I wanted to take my time relaunching WEBRIS so I could fully incorporate those learnings into our new agency.

Over the last 8 months we’ve worked hard build out our service offering, team and culture. We’ve worked with a handful of clients during this time period to get our process dialed in.

It’s safe to say we’re dialed in.

Hyper focused on SEO

The buzzword around here lately is “focus”. We’ve trimmed the fat on our service to focus on results.

No more fluff deliverables – if the output of our efforts doesn’t result in more traffic, we don’t do it.

Moreover, we’ve hyper focused our service offering only on SEO.

Yes, our website will tell you we do analytics, UX and strategy, but only within the scope of an SEO campaign.

If you want more organic traffic and revenue, we’re your agency.

If you want anything other than that, we’re not your agency.

NOTE: We work well with other agencies. We work hand in hand with design shops and ad agencies on a daily basis.

Everyone on our staff has at least 6 years of experience working on SEO campaigns for clients.

We know exactly what to do for every website we work on, before they even become a client.

I want to put an end to this notion that SEO campaigns need to be “custom”. That’s just a weak sales pitch from another overpriced agency.

We don’t do “custom” SEO campaigns and you don’t want us to.

The process gets sped up with technology

I’ve been working with David Krevitt on our 2 other companies for a few years now (The Blueprint Training, Query.Recipes). He’s an automation expert, he’s helped us build some awesome tools like our content audit and project management suite.

I decided to bring him on to WEBRIS as a partner so he could help us build out an entire suite of tools for our SEO clients.

Every deliverable that we run for our clients has been partially automated by technology we’ve built in house.

  • Our stack runs on Google BigQuery, a cloud database that allows us to processes limitless data
  • Using some Python and SQL we pull API data from our entire SEO tool stack (GA, GSC, DeepCrawl, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc) into our database
  • Within the database, David has written a number of scripts to process and format that data (i.e. formulas you’d usually write by hand in Excel)
  • That data is then pushed into a viz tool of choice (Sheets, Data Studio, etc)

What we’re left with is completely automated technical audits, keyword research, reports and more.

We’ve automated the tedious process of data pulling, formatting and reporting. You’re not paying us top dollar to pull data in Excel and format, you’re paying us to analyze and take action on it.

Cutting ties with offices, for good

This COVID-19 situation has been a nightmare from the start. However, if there’s 1 good thing that’s come from it is companies finally realizing that people don’t need to be in an office to work.

Even during WEBRIS 1.0 (before being acquired) we operated remotely, but I still paid for an expensive office space just to keep up appearances publicly.

No more. We’re tired of pretending to be something we’re not.

We hate offices.

You (as a client) should hate offices too. You’re paying your current agency a premium so they can cover that ridiculous overhead.

Here at WEBRIS, I only have 2 goals:

  1. Keep our clients happy
  2. Keep our team happy

If our team is happy, our clients are happy.

To keep my team happy means flexibility. It means allowing them to take personal time during a workday to go to the gym, pick up their kids from school or have lunch with their spouse.

Forcing people into an office is a recipe for unhappiness and wasted time.
